Past Presidents

ECSA Presidents

Walter A Lomas
1948 - 1958

Walter Lomas immigrated to Canada in his early 20's and developed as an all-star centre forward playing for several local teams. Following his 18 years as a player, Walter cultivated a twenty-year run as the most prominent soccer administrator in Essex County. Before retiring in 1968, his executive resume, in addition to President and Secretary/Treasurer of the District Association, would include a term as President of the Ontario Soccer Association from 1958 to 1960. His lifelong dedication to the sport was to be a role model and a inspiration for future District Association executives to follow.

James Bruce
1959 - 1967

Lambertus (Bob) Van Der Linden
1968 - 1973

Arthur Bellamy
1974 - 1979

Joseph Alb
1980 - 1985

Joe Alb, who has served as President of ECSA for five years was one of the founding fathers of the youth movement in the District. Most of his adult life has been consumed with fulfilling some executive role or other, most recently serving as President of the Michigan Ontario Soccer League.

Joseph C Borg
1986 - 1992

Prior to serving in the capacity of President of the ECSA, Joe Borg acquired his administrative experience in the youth Association where he held various positions and was generally acknowledged to have been a commanding influence in forming the youth competitive structure that is still in use to this date. Also a 20 year District Administrator, Borg was instrumental in the formation of the Michigan Ontario Soccer League (MOSL), which after over 20years of operation recently merged with the Windsor and District Soccer League (WADSL), and had the envious distinction of being the longest enduring senior league in the District.

Mladen Moric
1993 - 2007

Mladen Moric, who completed 14 years as President, fulfilled the perpetuation of the long-lasting leadership. During his leadership, the District has enjoyed a significant increase in registration throughout the entire County. This administration has also amassed a sound fiscal basis that will ensure the future development of all phases of the sport. Mladen's administrative abilities were honed over a period of some 13 years where he was President of the Windsor Soccer Referees Association.
